Women’s rights, and their health, are entwined.

The regional, virtual launch of the UNAIDS World AIDS Day 2023 report, Let Communities Lead, brought together community representatives from across the region. They were briefed about key messages from the report and how they intersect with the realities of the HIV epidemic and response in Asia and the Pacific. They also learned about innovative social and news media strategies from diverse community leaders. Here are the highlights.

A national HIV legal review report,  launched in Myanmar’s capital Nay Pyi Taw on 23 September, called for immediate and long-term legal reform and capacity building to ensure access to health and HIV prevention and treatment services for people living with HIV (PLHIV) and key affected populations.

Asian football community unites to Protect the Goal

Five countries across Asia have embraced the Protect the Goal campaign. An innovative partnership between UNAIDS, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) is promoting a multicountry football-based HIV prevention programme in the region.
