There is a need to reform laws on sex work in Myanmar and raise awareness of the challenges sex workers face, according to senior representatives of government, sex worker networks and international organizations. The recommendations were made during the National Seminar on Collaboration for the HIV Response with Sex Workers in Myanmar, which took place in Nay Pyi Taw from 21-22 September.
Nineteen renowned Malaysian and Indonesian contemporary artists are exhibiting their work in an exhibition called ARTAID 15, which is taking place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 21-31 August. The Vice-President of Xinhua News, Shen Haixiong, reaffirmed the news agency’s commitment to continue raising public awareness of the AIDS response in China and beyond during a meeting with UNAIDS Deputy Executive Director Luiz Loures on 19 November.
Thailand remains committed to working with other partners to end the AIDS epidemic in the region. The Government of Viet Nam announced on 25 October its commitment to new targets intended to rapidly expand HIV treatment, thus becoming the first country in Asia to adopt the 90–90–90 targets.
A high-level delegation of parliamentary and private sector leaders from the Republic of Korea visited India from 10 to 15 September to learn about the impact that HIV has on communities and how the country is responding to the AIDS epidemic.
