The World AIDS Day 2024 theme is “take the rights path“. The path that ends AIDS is a rights path. Upholding the United Nations Declaration on Human Rights, and fostering inclusion of all communities, are essential for ending AIDS, for ensuring sustainable development and for human security.
The regional, virtual launch of the UNAIDS World AIDS Day 2023 report, Let Communities Lead, brought together community representatives from across the region. They were briefed about key messages from the report and how they intersect with the realities of the HIV epidemic and response in Asia and the Pacific. They will be briefed on the 2023 World AIDS Day report and learn from other community leaders about strategies for stronger social media and news media engagement to advance their advocacy agendas.
The world can end AIDS, with communities leading the way. Organisations of communities living with, at risk of, or affected by HIV are the frontline of progress in the HIV response. Communities connect people with person-centred public health services, build trust, innovate, monitor implementation of policies and services, and hold providers accountable.
UNAIDS’ World AIDS Day report 2022 will be launched for the Asia Pacific region on Wednesday, 30th November in Bangkok, Thailand.
